TradeLog is Windows trade-accounting software for U.S. active traders who need wash-sale handling, proceeds reconciliation, Form 8949, Sections 1256 and 475 reports, and tax-lot adjustments. It does not file a return, give tax advice, execute trades, or cover every digital-asset case.

Key features

  • Maintain one local TradeLog data file per taxpayer and tax year with trade history from multiple brokerage accounts, including IRAs.
  • Import actual trade history through supported broker files, selected BrokerConnect connections, Excel-compatible files, or manual entry when the necessary transaction fields are available.
  • Identify and adjust wash sales for stocks, options, and short sales across accounts, including IRA wash sales and deferrals carried into the next tax year.
  • Generate Form 8949 details for Schedule D after required year-end holdings verification and gross-proceeds reconciliation against broker Forms 1099-B.
  • Prepare Form 6781 details for supported Section 1256 contracts and, on Trader or Elite, Form 4797 and Section 481 details for eligible Section 475 mark-to-market traders.
  • Review potential wash sales during the year and inspect positions carrying deferred losses before completing the tax year.
  • Make supported adjustments for options exercises, assignments and expirations, stock splits, ticker changes, cost basis, and specific-lot matching.
  • Analyze trade performance with notes, strategy labels, filters, charts, and reports alongside the tax-accounting workflow.
  • Store TradeLog data files locally on a user-selected Windows storage location; files may be password-protected, and users remain responsible for securing and backing them up.
  • Use the 30-day trial to import unlimited records and preview reports, but not to copy data, export, save or print reports, or run End Tax Year.
  • Choose annual Investor, Trader, or Elite access based on trade-record volume and Section 475 needs; each subscription includes one File Key for finalized reporting.
  • TradeLog is tax-support software, not a broker, return-filing service, or provider of investment, tax, or legal advice.

Curation & Accuracy

This directory blends AI‑assisted discovery with human curation. Entries are reviewed, edited, and organized with the goal of expanding coverage and sharpening quality over time. Your feedback helps steer improvements (because no single human can capture everything all at once).

Details change. Pricing, features, and availability may be incomplete or out of date. Treat listings as a starting point and verify on the provider’s site before making decisions. If you spot an error or a gap, send a quick note and I’ll adjust.
